Effective speaking does not just happen. It is the result of an orderly thought process, knowledge of how to get people to listen, and an objective appraisal of your performance as a speaker. The following are suggestions to help you develop competence in the preparation and presentation of an effective presentation.

I require my students to make presentations. We are blessed that we have an extensive computer network. Our school has a senior project that includes a presentation component. This component encourages the students to learn how to Power Point© in a general way. What I try to do is to take that beginner approach and improve it to an experienced level.

The part that the students use is Power Point©. They have a beginner experience for the most part and this site is devoted to increasing the skills of those students. The guidelines for presentations are adapted from those of the US Army as well as current techniques required by industry.

I do not propose that the students are professional presenters when finished, but they do increase in ability.
