Stimulating ideas: An effective writing effort presents interesting and vital information about a specific subject. The purpose is clear and the reader has no trouble in following where the writer is going.

Logical organization: There is nothing more difficult to read than a paper than has no clear guide to where it is going. The opening draws the reader into the paper. The middle section develops the main idea with examples, definitions, descriptions and makes it is clear to the reader that the writer has a firm grasp of the material. The closing wraps up the paper and allows the reader to leave the paper with a sense of knowledge and understanding of the topic.
