Curriculum for Galaxies

The galaxy we live in is one of the larger examples in our neighbor hood. The typical galaxy is composed of billions of stars and they most around the center and up and down along their path of motion.
Galaxies come in all sizes and shapes and they collide with each other. These collisions are spectacular and are the source of new stars.
The stars in a galaxy will grow and die. As the die they will release material or gas into the areas between the stars. This gas is the source of future stars. New stars are influenced by the material available at the time of formation. This cycle of star-gas-star cycle is affected by the galactic neighborhood at the time of formation.
